Ali Yanya ARE

Ali Yanya’s work is a continuous exploration of man and his relationship with his surroundings, history and politics. He uses printmaking techniques and processes as another form of drawing. Hard-ground line etching, drypoint, aquatint and mezzotint offer him a huge range of subtle linear and tonal qualities, enabling him to create images with atmosphere drama and stillness.

 

Ali studied at Fine Art at Marmara University, Istanbul, then MA Printmaking at London’s Royal College of Art.

 

His work has been exhibited widely, including 2 solo exhibitions, and he has been awarded several prizes for his prints. Ali’s work features in public collections including Clifford Chance International Law Firm, British Museum, Turkish Graphic Arts Museum and BP Turkey.

 

He currently works as a part time printmaking tutor at Morley College.
