MICHELLE GRIFFITHS RE

MICHELLE GRIFFITHS RE

Brothers in Law, 2017

screenprint

Inspired by JAM Whistler & Sir Francis Seymour Haden CMG FRCS PPRE

Part of the Print REbels Portfolio

“Sir Francis Seymour Haden CMG FRCS PPRE (1818-1910) and James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834-1903), brothers-in-law and two of the greatest etchers of their day, were antagonists. Menpes' portrait of Whistler and Strang’s of Haden were the references for this print, in which I play with the idea of re-uniting the old rivals.”
