Simon Redington’s work over the last twenty years has a continuous thread to it, a vibrant jagged energy that is redolent of the past and a visceral insight that simultaneously informs and embraces a contemporary edge. His work travels through an eclectic range of artistic influences from German Expressionism to the Ukiyo-e woodcuts of Japan. However it remains strongly rooted in the English modernist movement known as the Vorticists, and in particular a paean to the legacy of David Bomberg. His use of multiple, layered imagery and obscured subject matter alongside text also point to his forays into the history of information as much as to the history of art.
